How to use Splice INSTRUMENT – Blog

Splice INSTRUMENT is our new free virtual instrument plugin that unlocks a whole world of sound.

In the video above, we walk through how to use INSTRUMENT and showcase some of our favorite sounds.

How to use Splice INSTRUMENT

Once you install INSTRUMENT, you’ll find it in your DAW’s browser. You can preview the starting presets and load up your favorite one to get started.

Once you’ve selected your starting preset, you’ll see the Play section. You can sculpt the sound of your preset further here with the Dynamics Slider as well as the other macro knobs.

Splice INSTRUMENT allows you to sculpt your sound with simple but powerful parameter controls.

The Discover section shows you an overview of all of the packs available in INSTRUMENT, and new packs will be added here every month. You can also search and use filters to find the exact sound you’re looking for.

When downloading your first preset, you’ll be asked to log into your Splice account; if you’re on a plan with INSTRUMENT, this will let you also access its premium packs. That said, you don’t need a paid subscription to access any of the free presets or our upcoming monthly Free Drops in INSTRUMENT.

Whether premium or free, every preset is meticulously crafted by expert recording engineers and sound designers—from electric pianos and mandolins to hyperpop synths and acoustic drums, check out some of our favorite sounds in the walkthrough above.

And there you have it! Which presets are you most excited to explore? What kinds of sounds would you like to see in INSTRUMENT in future drops? Let us know in the comments section of the video, and subscribe to the Splice YouTube channel for more.
